RSFL Season 1 Recap
Celebrating the journey, champions, and community that defined our first-ever season.

A Historic Beginning
The Rising Star Football League (RSFL) made history with its first edition in Abuja, marking a bold step toward the rejuvenation of grassroots football in Nigeria.
After months of exciting fixtures, emotional goals, and fierce rivalries, the season officially came to an end on Sunday, July 14th, with the declaration of the league’s first champion.
Abuja Edition — The Race for Glory 🏆
The season finale saw Future Guaranteed and New Dawn battling neck and neck for the top spot.
After a long and intense campaign, Future Guaranteed emerged as the inaugural RSFL League Winner, comfortably finishing six points ahead of their closest rival.
The final day wasn’t just about victory — it was a celebration of talent, teamwork, and the promise of a brighter future for grassroots football in Nigeria.
Expanding Horizons — Lagos Edition in View
Shortly after Abuja’s success, RSFL took another major step by extending its vision to Lagos State.
On April 27, 2024, the RSFL team met with the Badagry D.F.A board and 96 coaches at Maracana Stadium, Lagos, to discuss plans for the Lagos Edition of the league.
The following week, RSFL held an exclusive interview on Lagos Television (LTV), where representatives outlined plans to promote grassroots football, promising ₦11 million in prizes and free registration for all participating teams.
This initiative underscores RSFL’s mission — to empower communities and discover raw football talent across Nigeria.
Rewarding Loyalty — Fans & Community Giveaways 🎁
RSFL believes football is more than competition; it’s about connection and community.
Throughout the season, the league rewarded its most loyal supporters and participants:
-
Makama – ₦200,000 shopping voucher
-
Edikan Patrick – ₦50,000 shopping voucher
-
Ndayagi Chiko Abdulkadir – PS5 winner for the weekly match prediction challenge
-
Idoko Onyowo Justina, a youth corps member at Kubwa Orientation Camp, Abuja, also received a brand new PS5 for emerging victorious in an RSFL game challenge.
These giveaways reflect RSFL’s social commitment to inspire young people and make every fan feel part of the journey.
Recognition and Grassroots Development
Beyond the matches, RSFL’s leadership made deliberate efforts to recognize and reward the people building the foundation of local football:
- Head coaches of qualifying teams were presented with gifts from the Managing Director as tokens of appreciation for their hard work.

- Grassroots clubs across Abuja Municipal received official RSFL certification, celebrating their dedication to developing young players and promoting community sports.
These moments not only honored those behind the scenes but also strengthened RSFL’s credibility as a driving force for change in grassroots football.
Media Presence and Public Engagement
RSFL’s first season gained widespread media attention — from Brila FM, where Player of the Month contenders shared their journeys, to LTV interviews that spread awareness of the league’s mission.
This growing visibility proved that RSFL isn’t just another football competition — it’s a movement for development, inclusion, and opportunity.
